Speaker Series

The 2008-2009 speaker series starts on November 17th following our annual Annual General Meeting.

The AGM starts at 6:15 at the Whistler Library and will include a year in review presentation that will go over the highlights and results of the past year and include an open discussion on past events as well as what events members would like to see in the future.  If youre interested in nature or in getting involved with the Whistler Naturalists please join us!  We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in helping us plan events.

Follow the AGM is the first speaker in our 2008-2009 speaker series and is a joint venture with the Whistler Library.  Come to hear Leslie Anthony talk about his new book Snakebit: Confessions of a herpetologist and about our local amphibians and reptiles.  Talk starts at 7:00 pm at the Whistler Library.

Check back soon to hear more about our 2008-2009 Speaker Series.

To help others learn about our local natural environment, we have run an annual successful speaker series most years since 2002.  Our presentations have focused on a diverse array of subjects that tie into our local environment.

 Our recent speaker series have included talks on:

•The story of our native fish with a local fish detective;

•Western toads at Lost Lake;

•Whistler wetland creatures and their role as indicator species; and

•Climate change – the background science and introduction of a local ongoing alpine monitoring project.
